Artifacts & Ideas For a
Nature Inspired Architecture

Open Lands

"Artifacts and Ideas for a Nature Inspired Architecture" was an exhibition orginized in 2010 by Larry Zagoda and featured Chicago artists including James Hubbell, a visionary architect from California. Sharon exhibited a selection of her pitcher plant 'pitchers', watercolors of Helioamphara pitcher plants plus a Pitcher Plant Pad housing complex made of ceramic inspired by the Helioamphora species. The progression of idea to final piece began with a watercolor of the actual plant, the essential form of which was translated into a subsequent drawing. This in turn became a blueprint for the creation of the final ceramic sculpture.
